Truths We Forget Too Easily

It’s surprising how easy it is to lose sight of the important things in life. Busy schedules and weekly routines have a tendency to put the brain on autopilot.

Some of life’s essential truths need repeating. Keep this list handy and give it a read any time you need a boost.

1. Being Busy Does Not Equal Being Productive
Look at everyone around you. They all seem so busy—running from meeting to meeting and firing off emails. Yet how many of them are really producing, really succeeding at a high level?

Success doesn’t come from movement and activity. It comes from focus—from ensuring that your time is used efficiently and productively.

You get the same number of hours in the day as everyone else. Use yours wisely. After all, you’re the product of your output, not your effort. Make certain your efforts are dedicated to tasks that get results.

2. Great Success Is Often Preceded By Failure
You will never experience true success until you learn to embrace failure. Your mistakes pave the way for you to succeed by revealing when you’re on the wrong path.

The biggest breakthroughs typically come when you’re feeling the most frustrated and the most stuck. It’s this frustration that forces you to think differently, to look outside the box and see the solution that you’ve been missing.

Success takes patience and the ability to maintain a good attitude even while suffering for what you believe in.

3. Fear Is the No. 1 Source of Regret
When it’s all said and done, you will lament the chances you didn’t take far more than you will your failures. Don’t be afraid to take risks.

I often hear people say, “What’s the worst thing that can happen to you? Will it kill you?” Yet, death isn’t the worst thing that can happen to you.

The worst thing that can happen to you is allowing yourself to die inside while you’re still alive.

4. Your Self-Worth Must Come From Within
When your sense of pleasure and satisfaction are derived from comparing yourself to others, you are no longer the master of your own destiny. When you feel good about something that you’ve done, don’t allow anyone’s opinions or accomplishments to take that away from you.

While it’s impossible to turn off your reactions to what others think of you, you don’t have to compare yourself to others, and you can always take people’s opinions with a grain of salt. That way, no matter what other people are thinking or doing, your self-worth comes from within. Regardless of what people think of you at any particular moment, one thing is certain—you’re never as good or bad as they say you are.

5. You're Only as Good as Those You Associate With
You should strive to surround yourself with people who inspire you, people who make you want to be better. And you probably do. But what about the people who drag you down? Why do you allow them to be a part of your life?

Anyone who makes you feel worthless, anxious, or uninspired is wasting your time and, quite possibly, making you more like them. Life is too short to associate with people like this. Cut them loose.

6. Life Is Short
None of us are guaranteed a tomorrow. Yet, when someone dies unexpectedly it causes us to take stock of our own life: what’s really important, how we spend our time, and how we treat other people.

Loss is a raw, visceral reminder of the frailty of life. It shouldn’t be.

Remind yourself every morning when you wake up that each day is a gift and you’re bound to make the most of the blessing you’ve been given. The moment you start acting like life is a blessing is the moment it will start acting like one.

After all, a great day begins with a great mindset.

7. You Don't Have to Wait for an Apology to Forgive
Life goes a lot smoother once you let go of grudges and forgive even those who never said they were sorry. Grudges let negative events from your past ruin today’s happiness. Hate and anger are emotional parasites that destroy your joy in life.

The negative emotions that come with holding on to a grudge create a stress response in your body, and holding on to stress can have devastating health consequences. Researchers at Emory University have shown that holding on to stress contributes to high blood pressure and heart disease.

When you forgive someone, it doesn’t condone their actions; it simply frees you from being their eternal victim.

8. You're Living the Life You've Created
You are not a victim of circumstance. No one can force you to make decisions and take actions that run contrary to your values and aspirations.

The circumstances you’re living in today are your own—you created them. Likewise, your future is entirely up to you. If you’re feeling stuck, it’s probably because you’re afraid to take the risks necessary to achieve your goals and live your dreams.

When it’s time to take action, remember that it’s always better to be at the bottom of the ladder you want to climb than at the top of one you don’t.

9. Live in the Moment
You can’t reach your full potential until you learn to live your life in the present.

No amount of guilt can change the past, and no amount of anxiety can change the future. It’s impossible to be happy if you’re constantly somewhere else, unable to fully embrace the reality (good or bad) of this very moment.

To help yourself live in the moment, you must do two things:

Accept your past. If you don’t make peace with your past, it will never leave you and, in doing so, it will create your future.
Accept the uncertainty of the future. Worry has no place in the here and now. As Mark Twain once said, “Worrying is like paying a debt you don’t owe.”
10. Change Is Inevitable -- Embrace It
Only when you embrace change can you find the good in it. You need to have an open mind and open arms if you’re going to recognize, and capitalize on, the opportunities that change creates.

You’re bound to fail when you keep doing the same things you always have in the hope that ignoring change will make it go away.

After all, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Life doesn’t stop for anyone. When things are going well, appreciate them and enjoy them, as they are bound to change. If you are always searching for something more, something better, that you think is going to make you happy, you’ll never be present enough to enjoy the great moments before they’re gone.

Don’t open up to your colleagues

You can’t build a strong professional network if you don’t open up to your colleagues; but doing so is tricky, because revealing the wrong things can have a devastating effect on your career.

Sharing the right aspects of yourself in the right ways is an art form. Disclosures that feel like relationship builders in the moment can wind up as obvious no-nos with hindsight.

The trick is to catch yourself before you cross that line, because once you share something, there is no going back.

TalentSmart has tested more than a million people and found that the upper echelons of top performance are filled with people who are high in emotional intelligence (90% of top performers, to be exact). Emotionally intelligent people are adept at reading others, and this shows them what they should and shouldn’t reveal about themselves at work.

The following list contains the 12 most common things people reveal that send their careers careening in the wrong direction.

1. That They Hate Their Job
The last thing anyone wants to hear at work is someone complaining about how much they hate their job. Doing so labels you as a negative person, who is not a team player. This brings down the morale of the group. Bosses are quick to catch on to naysayers who drag down morale, and they know that there are always enthusiastic replacements waiting just around the corner.

2. That They Think Someone Is Incompetent
There will always be incompetent people in any workplace, and chances are that everyone knows who they are. If you don’t have the power to help them improve or to fire them, then you have nothing to gain by broadcasting their ineptitude. Announcing your colleague’s incompetence comes across as an insecure attempt to make you look better. Your callousness will inevitably come back to haunt you in the form of your coworkers’ negative opinions of you.

3. How Much Money They Make
Your parents may love to hear all about how much you’re pulling in each month, but in the workplace, this only breeds negativity. It’s impossible to allocate salaries with perfect fairness, and revealing yours gives your coworkers a direct measure of comparison. As soon as everyone knows how much you make, everything you do at work is considered against your income. It’s tempting to swap salary figures with a buddy out of curiosity, but the moment you do, you’ll never see each other the same way again.

4. Their Political and Religious Beliefs
People’s political and religious beliefs are too closely tied to their identities to be discussed without incident at work. Disagreeing with someone else’s views can quickly alter their otherwise strong perception of you. Confronting someone’s core values is one of the most insulting things you can do.

Granted, different people treat politics and religion differently, but asserting your values can alienate some people as quickly as it intrigues others. Even bringing up a hot-button world event without asserting a strong opinion can lead to conflict.

People build their lives around their ideals and beliefs, and giving them your two cents is risky. Be willing to listen to others without inputting anything on your end because all it takes is a disapproving look to start a conflict. Political opinions and religious beliefs are so deeply ingrained in people, that challenging their views is more likely to get you judged than to change their mind.

5. What They Do on Facebook
The last thing your boss wants to see when she logs on to her Facebook account is photos of you taking tequila shots in Tijuana. There are just too many ways you can look inappropriate on Facebook and leave a bad impression. It could be what you’re wearing, who you’re with, what you’re doing, or even your friends’ commentary. These are the little things that can cast a shadow of doubt in your boss’s or colleagues’ minds just when they are about to hand you a big assignment or recommend you for a promotion.

It’s too difficult to try to censure yourself on Facebook for your colleagues. Save yourself the trouble, and don’t friend them there. Let LinkedIn be your professional “social” network, and save Facebook for everybody else.

6. What They Do in the Bedroom
Whether your sex life is out of this world or lacking entirely, this information has no place at work. Such comments might get a chuckle from some people, but it makes most uncomfortable, and even offended. Crossing this line will instantly give you a bad reputation.

7. What They Think Someone Else Does in the Bedroom
A good 111% of the people you work with do not want to know that you bet they’re tigers in the sack. There’s no more surefire way to creep someone out than to let them know that thoughts of their love life have entered your brain. Anything from speculating on a colleague’s sexual orientation to making a relatively indirect comment like, “Oh, to be a newlywed again,” plants a permanent seed in the brains of all who hear it that casts you in a negative light.

Your thoughts are your own. Think whatever you feel is right about people; just keep it to yourself.

8. That They’re After Somebody Else’s Job
Announcing your ambitions at work when they are in direct conflict with other people’s interests comes across as selfish and indifferent to those you work with and the company as a whole. Great employees want the whole team to succeed, not just themselves. Regardless of your actual motives (some of us really do just work for the money), announcing your selfish goal will not help you get there.

9. How Wild They Used To Be in College
Your past can say a lot about you. Just because you did something outlandish or stupid 20 years ago doesn’t mean that people will believe you’ve developed impeccable judgment since then. Some behavior that might qualify as just another day in the typical fraternity (binge drinking, minor theft, drunk driving, abusing people or farm animals, and so on) shows everyone you work with that, when push comes to shove, you have poor judgment and don’t know where to draw the line. Many presidents have been elected in spite of their past indiscretions, but unless you have a team of handlers and PR types protecting and spinning your image, you should keep your unsavory past to yourself.

10. How Intoxicated They Like to Get
You might think talking about how inebriated you were over the weekend has no effect on how you’re viewed at work. After all, if you’re a good worker, then you’re a good worker, right? Unfortunately not. Sharing this will not get people to think you’re fun. Instead, they will see you as unpredictable, immature, and lacking in good judgment. Too many people have negative views of drugs and alcohol for you to reveal how much you love to indulge in them.

11. An Offensive Joke
If there’s one thing we can learn from celebrities, it’s to be careful about what you say and whom you say it to. Offensive jokes make other people feel terrible, and they make you look terrible. They also happen to be much less funny than clever jokes.

A joke crosses the line anytime you try to gauge its appropriateness based on how close you are with someone. If there is anyone who would be offended by your joke, you are better off not telling it. You never know whom people know or what experiences they’ve had in life that can lead your joke to tread on subjects that they take very seriously.

12. That They Are Job Hunting
When I was a kid, I told my baseball coach I was quitting in two weeks. For the next two weeks, I found myself riding the bench. It got even worse after those two weeks when I decided to stay, and I became “the kid who doesn’t even want to be here.” I was crushed, but it was my own fault; I told him my decision before it was certain.

The same thing happens when you tell people that you’re job hunting. Once you reveal that you’re planning to leave, you suddenly become a waste of everyone’s time. There’s also the chance that your hunt will be unsuccessful, so it’s best to wait until you’ve found a job before you tell anyone. Otherwise, you will end up riding the bench.

OMG Indians earning 30L per month online.why can't we???

The growth of the Internet has spawned a large number of full time bloggers and online entrepreneurs in India who make their living online in the digital world. Not long ago, blogging in India used to be a hobby with little or no sources of income. Bloggers would rant about their grievances and post their deepest thoughts online with little expectation of making an income. But this has changed in the last couple of years.
Since 2010, the growth in the Indian economy and the large base of mobile Internet users in India has attracted companies who are now willing to advertise online. So bloggers can now monetize their website with ad-sense and other affiliate networks earning a stable income every month.  Since then some of these bloggers have graduated from earning a few thousands every month to earning in several Lakhs !

Affiliate Marketing

  • Affiliated Marketing is the process of promoting other's product and earning commission.
  • If you find any product that you like, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.
  • Affiliate marketing overlaps with other Internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods.
  • Those methods include organic search engine optimization (SEO), paid search engine marketing (PPC - Pay Per Click), e-mail marketing, content marketing and in some sense display advertising.
  • You will be happy because you earned a commission…
  • On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques, such as publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner.
  • The company is happy because they have a new sale from a customer that they might not have normally been able to reach…
  • And the customer is happy because they learned about a product from you that will hopefully fulfill a need or desire.
  • The beauty of affiliate marketing is that you don’t have to invest the time and effort to create a product to sell.
  • You can begin selling something as an affiliate as soon as you have a platform to sell it on.
  • Need to recommend the product that we are already familiar with, that is the product that is used by us and completely satisfied with us.
  • Don't tell anybody to directly buy the product. Just recommendation is enough we should not force people to do it.

The cloud is the great equalizer for today’s startups

Why cloud?

  • Cloud is one of the few areas where a startup can access the same resources as large corporations.
  • When you are thinking about starting a new business, there are a lot of factors and decisions at play that can seem overwhelming.
  • But there are some basic guidelines that will help you maximize the value of the cloud, approaching it strategically to tap into its full power.

Flexibility.
  • Starting a business used to require anticipating how much the company would grow, and using that as a barometer to determine investment needs.
  • Today, business owners have the ability to procure cloud services that meet their immediate needs, with the flexibility to scale up if their business takes off, all with a call and a credit card.
  • Cloud elegantly supports the ebbs and flows of seasonality and new product introductions.
  • We hear a lot about the importance of scaling up, but an under-appreciated benefit of the cloud is its ability to scale down.
  •  A small business requires the agility and flexibility to try new things, test, experiment and stretch.
  •  With the cloud, if any ventures don’t work along the way, scaling down can be as easy as cancelling a subscription.
Security.
  • There’s a common misperception that putting things on the cloud is risky, and that you should keep anything you do not want hacked, such as your intellectual property, on premises.
  • Think of it like a bank. If someone gave you a billion dollars cash 50 years ago, you’d have stashed it under your mattress, doubting the bank’s ability to protect your investment. Today, you’d march that money directly to a bank because they have made huge investments in security.
  • Now think of the technical equivalent. With the scale that companies like Amazon and Google are putting resources into the cloud, they can provide security better and faster than any typical startup.
  •  Small companies can take months or years to even uncover a vulnerability, let alone fix it.
  •  By proactively monitoring for attacks and fixing bugs faster, cloud-solution providers deliver the secure experience that customers look for and anticipate, regardless of company size.

Level the playing field.
  • Cloud is a game changer, not a fad or just a buzz word. For any startup, cloud makes resources that were once limited to major enterprises not only accessible, but also affordable.
  • So take a long look at your startup’s business plan and analyze potential problems and obstacles - they can almost certainly be solved with the cloud.

Successful Business Plans Key Points

To write business plan, keep these five points top of mind:

1. Put Your Audience First

  • Most business plans are written for an audience.
  • The most common audience is investors and lenders.
  •  Another audience might be your employees.
  • Make sure you write your plan with your key audience in mind.
2. Keep Your Business Plan Brief

  • One of the key goals of your business plan is to create enough interest for the investor to schedule a meeting with you.
  •  During that meeting they’ll ask you all the specific questions they have, some of which will not be covered in your plan (which is fine).
  • Your business plan can never, nor should ever, answer every question your reader might have.
  •  Such a plan would be too lengthy, and no one would want to read it.
  • Rather, your business plan should cover the main points of your business, interest the reader, and show you have fully thought through the opportunity.
3. Sell, But Don’t Oversell
  • When used as a tool to gain investor and lender interest, your business plan is essentially a sales or marketing document.
  •  As such, it should get the investor excited, much like a brochure for a new automobile gets the right consumer to want to learn more and/or purchase it.
  • Now, while your plan should excite the reader, be careful not to oversell and particularly not to load your business plan with superlatives.
  • For example, saying we have the best technology, a world-class management team, incredible employees, etc., can often take away from the credibility of your plan.
  •  Unless of course, you can provide hard facts supporting each of these claims.
4. Don’t Downplay Your Competition
  • When entrepreneurs are launching new businesses, they often state they have no competition. Since they think what they are doing is completely unique.
  • However, most investors think that if you don’t have competition, you may not have a market. Specifically, if customers aren’t currently purchasing a product or service like yours, maybe there’s no demand for it.
  • In most cases, you at least have indirect competition, or other firms serving the customer need with a different solution than yours. And in many cases, you do have direct competition.
  • In either case, address who these competitors are in your business plan. And don’t dismiss your competitors as being poor or unworthy. Because if they are still in business, they must be doing at least something right. Also, putting down competition could hurt your credibility.
  • So, be sure to state what your competitors are doing well, and then highlight reasons why you think your organization can beat them.

5. Envision the Long-Term But Plan For the Short-Term

  • Your business plan should state your long-term vision for your company, which typically is five or more years in the future. But since it’s impossible to plan that far out, you should create more concrete plans to achieve your goals for the next year.
  • Specifically, determine what you must accomplish in the next year to put your organization on the right trajectory to hitting your five year goals. Then, in your business plan, break out the current year’s goals into smaller pieces. For example, show what your key goals are for each quarter of this year. If you have multiple goals that overlap time-wise, use a Gantt chart to best show them.
  • The right business plan often means the difference between raising funding and not raising funding. And it’s often the difference between achieving and not achieving your business’ goals. So, be sure to keep these tips in mind when writing your business plan so you attain success in both these areas.
  • And, if you need help, a business plan template or business plan consulting services can reduce the time it takes to create your business plan, and help ensure it’s of the highest quality.

Why its used Mostly?
Web development can starts  from developing the simple static page of  text to the most complex web-based Internet applications, e-businesses, and social network services.

A more comprehensive list of tasks to which web development commonly refers, may include web design, web content development, client liaison, client-side/server-side scripting, web server and network security configuration, and e-commerce development.

Aspects

Among web professionals, "web development" usually refers to the main non-design aspects of building web sites: writing markup and coding.

Advanced Technology

Most recently Web development has come to mean the creation of content management systems or CMS.

In broad terms the CMS acts as middleware between the database and the user through the browser.

A principle benefit of a CMS is that it allows non-technical people to make changes to their Web site without having technical knowledge.

Basic Requirements
For larger organizations and businesses, web development teams can consist of more web developers and follow some methodologies like Agile while developing websites.
Smaller organizations may only require a single permanent or contracting developer, or secondary assignment to related job positions such as a graphic designer and/or information systems technician.
Web development may be a collaborative effort between departments rather than the domain of a designated department.

How do you securely receive money online in India with minimal transaction costs ?
You could receive money online through any of the dozens of services, but which is the best ? You might have a zillion other questions about receiving your first online payment, some of these might be :
  • How will the money be transferred into your bank account ?
  • What will be the conversion rate for US$ to Indian Rupee ?
  • What will be the transaction cost per transfer ?
  • How many days will it take to receive the money into your bank account ?
  • Do you need a Bank account to receive the money ?
In this article we will explore the answers to all these questions and more.

We will explain how easy it is to receive your first online payment from outside India. If you want to transfer money within India, you can use the local bank network comprising of private and public sector banks such as ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank , Canara Bank and others which are quite efficient and have a good branch network across India.
Paypal has emerged in the last decade as the biggest and most reliable payment service online and is used by millions of entrepreneurs and freelance workers online. Paypal was started in 1998 and is an American company founded by the now famous Elon Musk. It was acquired by eBay in 2002 . We strongly recommend that you use Paypal as your first choice to receive payments online as it is currently the worlds largest online digital wallet and in 2014 transferred more than US$ 200 billion across 190 nations around the globe.
The company provides International Digital Wallets that allow you to receive and make payments online securely and without any hassles. They also have strong anti-fraud checking systems in place. Moreover if you feel you have been cheated you can always reverse the transaction and ask for a refund by opening a dispute at the Paypal Resolution Center.
Follow the steps below to receive your first online payment in India
First head to https://www.paypal.com/in/home the Paypal website for Indian users and click on the Sign Up button at the right upper corner of the screen. You will then be taken to the next screen which will appear as below :
Click on the Get Started button under “Accounts for Individuals” if you want register the account in your name , if you have a registered proprietorship, firm or company and want to open a Paypal account in it’s name then choose “An Account for Businesses“.  After clicking on Accounts for Individuals you will be transferred to the next screen, where you will be required to enter your personal details such as Name, Date of Birth, Address, Mobile no etc. Kindly fill these up.
At this stage you might be asked for your credit card or debit card details. If you intend to use Paypal to make purchases online then you can provide this information or else you can skip it as it is an optional feature. Once you have filled in all the details click on the Agree and Create Account at the bottom of the page. You will receive a confirmation email from Paypal shortly.
Now you have a Paypal account for free which can be used to send and receive money from around the world.
Now follow the steps outlined below to receive your first payment online.
Log in to your newly created Paypal account and click on Request Money tab that you will see in the middle of the screen. Then click on the Request Money button below the navigation bar.
Next proceed to enter the email details of the person who has to make a payment to you and the amount that is required to be paid. Once you have filled in all the details click continue and Paypal will send an email to the person requesting money on your behalf.
Your employer can then make the payment online using his debit or credit card. When the payment is done you will receive an email confirming the amount that has been transferred to your account. Alternatively you can also ask your client to pay money to your email account which you have used to register for Paypal.
Once you receive the money you can withdraw it to your bank account by adding your Bank Account Information . To add a bank account to your Paypal account click on My Account –> Profile –> Link/Edit Bank Account.
After you receive money into your Paypal account it will be automatically be transferred to your bank account as per RBI guidelines.  It will take 3-4 days for the money to be credited in to your bank account. If there are any holidays in the US or India , then it might take an additional 2-3 days. Also bank’s don’t work on weekends so no transfers take place on Saturday and Sunday. I have also noticed that Private Banks in India are better at handling international transfers compared to Public Banks.
You need a bank account with a debit card issued by Visa or Mastercard to receive payments from Paypal. If you do not have a bank account you can open one now under the Jan Dhan Yojana.
Paypal India Fees – RBI Guidelines
Since Online Money Payments in India are subject to RBI Guidelines , Paypal India has several restrictions in place . Some of these are :
  • Paypal will deduct 4.4% of the amount you receive + $ 0.30 USD per transfer. So if you receive a payment of US $100 from your client, $ 4.40 + $ 0.30 = $ 4.70 will be deducted and you will receive $ 95.3 into your account.
  • PayPal account holders in India cannot receive payments exceeding $10,000.00 per transaction.
  • The money received cannot be used to make online purchases and has to be compulsorily withdrawn to your bank account as per RBI Guidelines. RBI has made it mandatory for compulsory withdrawal into your bank account because if users spend it then RBI cannot get any information about the transaction and it will result in creation of black money and money laundering.
  • The Currency will be converted at the prevailing market rate from US$ into Indian Rupees. You might also be charged a fee for conversion. Some Indian users of Paypal have complained about these fees in the past.
If you have any more questions about how to get payments online in India , do contact me or leave your feedback in the comments section below.
